OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER OF IKHAYALETHEMBA VILLAGE, NOMZAMO - Christmas 2010

It’s the end of the year! One cannot believe that this year has bounced by so quickly. 2010 has been a year of blessings, but also challenges which gave our Director, Chris, quite a few extra grey hairs. However, we wish to thank our donors and funders for standing by us in such a wonderful way – especially in the light of the present financial climate.

OUR CHILDREN
childrenThe most important priority, and our reason for existing of course, our children, are doing very well. We now have 34 children in our full-time care and thankfully, they all appear to be flourishing. We are amazed at their development, especially under the guidance of the Global Vision International volunteers. Because of their influence and teaching the children are growing up in a positive environment that will benefit them in their adult lives.

Our sincere thanks go to Shayle and her enthusiastic team for this incredible service.

RECREATIONAL AREA
recreation centreAs anticipated, our recreational area has really turned out to be a “House of Happiness”. It has proved itself to be a multi-purpose area and the staff regularly use it to cook large steaming pots of mealie-meal and other delectable goodies for everyone in the Sanctuary. They love the social feeling of being so central when doing their work.

THE BUILDING PROJECT

SAD NEWS

In March of this year we re-applied to a major S.A. corporation for funding for another 3 year cycle for running costs. Since applying we have regularly enquired as to the status of our application and were always told that it looked positive and that a final decision was forthcoming, however, it was delayed owing to a staff re-shuffle. This was the response until 15 October 2010. On 20 October 2010 we received an email informing us that we would not be receiving funding owing to budgetary restraint. This in effect means that our budget for running costs will be cut by ±50% as from 1 January 2010. Whilst this was a huge shock for us we are determined to carry on for the sake and wellbeing of our children.

This project has been so blessed since its very beginning and we all believe that this is a wonderful opportunity to trust Almighty God in the sure knowledge that He will hear our prayers and provide according to our needs.

LIFE IS NOT ABOUT WAITING FOR THE STORM TO PASS,
IT’S ABOUT DANCING IN THE RAIN.

WE WISH YOU EVERY HAPPINESS AT THIS CHRISTMAS TIME,
AND MANY WONDERFUL BLESSINGS THROUGHOUT THE COMING YEAR.
